Varaha, an intriguing eco-narrative that artfully interweaves mythology and history, delves into the pressing issues of environmental consciousness. Arunkumar’s work creatively utilizes the symbolism of the Varaha avatar from Hindu mythology, linking it to modern perceptions about the boar to formulate an engaging connection between ancient and contemporary imaginations.

The sculpture strongly symbolises preservation and protection, reflecting the artist’s intention to raise awareness about environmental issues. The intricate structure and composition of the work serve as a crucial reminder of the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world and urges us to actively protect our planet and mindfully appreciate our role in its protection. The sculpture is made of mostly plastic consumer waste layered with cement dust to neutralise the original identity as well as to exploit the sculptural aspect of the material and mismatch the sense of proportion attached to the objects. The work intricately represents our society’s consumerist and capitalistic narrative to address the urgent question of where we go from here rather than blaming one another.

Through this thought-provoking project, the artist establishes an enlightening dialogue between the mythological past and our current ecological predicament, ultimately emphasizing the importance of preservation for future generations.

‘वराह’ एक मोहक पर्यावरण-कथा है जो बहुत कलात्मक तरीके से पौराणिकता और इतिहास को एक दूसरे से गूँथती है जो पर्यावरण जागरूकता के अत्यावश्यक मुद्दों को खोजती है। अरुणकुमार का काम बेहद रचनात्मक तरीके से वैष्णव मिथक के वराह अवतार के प्रतीक का सजीवता जे साथ उपयोग करता है, जो सुअर की समकालीन अवधारणाओं को आधुनिक और प्राचीन कल्पनाओं के बीच एक रोचक सेतु बनाता है।

यह प्रतिमा संरक्षण और रक्षण का दृढ़ता के साथ प्रतिनिधित्व करती है, जो कलाकार की इच्छा को प्रतिबिंबित करती है कि वह पर्यावरण समस्याओं के प्रति चिन्तित है और इस विषय में जागरूकता बढ़ाना चाहता है। अरुण कुमार के इस ख़ास काम की जटिल संरचना और संयोजन मानवता और प्रकृति की अन्तरजड़ता की एक महत्वपूर्ण याद दिलाती है और हमें सक्रिय रूप से हमारी पृथ्वी की सुरक्षा करने और उसकी संरक्षा में हमारी भूमिका को समझने के लिए अनुरोध करती है। यह मूर्ति अधिकांशतः उपभोग किये गए प्लास्टिक के अपशिष्टों से बनी है,जिसमें सीमेंट की धूल की परतें ऐसे अवस्थित की गई हैं कि इसका वास्तविक स्वरूप बहुत उभर कर भी न आए और मूर्तिशिल्प के स्वरूप की सामग्री और आनुपातिक दृष्टि के मध्य की बेमेलता का मूर्ति से जुड़ी वस्तुओं के संदर्भ में दोहन किया जाए। यह कलात्मक कार्य बहुत जटिल सूक्ष्मता से समाज के उपभोक्तावादी और पूँजीवादी रवैये को प्रदर्शित करता है इस अत्यावश्यक प्रश्न को सम्बोधित करते हुए कि अब हम यहाँ से किस ओर जाएं, न कि एक दूसरे पर आरोप लगाने में लगे रहें।

इस विचारोत्तेजक परियोजना के माध्यम से, अरुण कुमार अपनी कलाकृतियों द्वारा पुरातन धर्मग्रंथों और हमारी वर्तमान पर्यावरणीय स्थिति के मध्य एक संवाद स्थापित करने का प्रयास करते हैं जिससे भविष्य की पीढ़ियों के लिए संरक्षण की महत्वपूर्णता को उल्लेखित किया जा सके।
