A collective of more than the human world, Hyphenated Lives signifies the constant multiplicity that pre-exists in individual life and the diverse possibilities that it could otherwise beget. Merging two different species into one directs our attention to the political angst surmounted by the common ecological existence.

These animals and birds are national emblems; they act as iconological elements that show their native details, which further become a signifier of the unbounded structures un- ruled by borders. Hyphenated Lives, in the act of performing dual roles, diverts the attention from the human-centric gaze and conditioned psyche to transform the knowledge of identity and being. Kallat, in order to do the same, uses the politics of ecology, reversing the cry toward political concerns, traditional psyche and biased classification. Furthermore, these newly- reformed or fantasy (maybe utopian) beings are formative signs to decentralise the movement and persisting socio-political and cultural hegemony.

‘हायफनेटेड लाईव्स’ मानव विश्व से कहीं अधिक का एक समूह है, जो व्यक्तिगत जीवन में पहले से ही मौजूद है और विभिन्न संभावनाओं का निरंतर बहुत्व दर्शाता है। दो भिन्न प्रजातियों का विलय एक में करते हुए यह हमारा ध्यान राजनैतिक आक्रोश से उत्पन्न उथल-पुथल से लेकर सामान्य पारिस्थितिकीय अस्तित्व पर केन्द्रित कर देता है।

ये जानवर और पक्षी राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक हैं; वे अपने मूल पैतृक विवरणों को दर्शाने वाले प्रतीकात्मक तत्व के रूप में कार्य करते हैं और आगे चलकर सीमाओं द्वारा शासित असीमित संरचनाओं का संकेतक बन जाते हैं। हाइफ़नेटेड जीवन दोहरी भूमिका निभाते हुए, मानव-केंद्रित दृष्टिकोण और शर्तबद्ध मनोवृत्ति से ध्यान को भटकाते हुए पहचान और अस्तित्व के ज्ञान को परिवर्तित करते हैं। इसी का अनुसरण करने के लिए, कल्लत पारितंत्रिक चिंताओं, पारम्परिक मनोवृत्तियों और दृष्टिकोणों के विपरीत रोमांचकारी परिवर्तन के लिए पारिस्थितिक राजनीति का उपयोग करती हैं। इसके अलावा, ये नव-पुनःनिर्मित या कालपनीक (शायद यूटोपियन) प्राणी आंदोलन को विकेंद्रीकृत करने और सामाजिक-राजनीतिक और सांस्कृतिक आधिपत्य को बनाए रखने के प्रारंभिक संकेत हैं।
