Yaksh, a 3D digitally printed resin sculpture, is an assemblage of fractals that encapsulate the form of a deity-like figure. A fractal is an ever-repeating pattern, arising itself into an endless motion. It forms a part of organic life at a cellular level. As observed, the cosmos is replete with fractals.

The Buddhist philosophical theory of Dependent Origination (Pratītyasamutpāda) explains the unending chain of cause and effect, which conditions the existence and perpetuation of material life. Nothing can arise without the pre-existing cause and hence the series of events is ceaseless. Emerging from these theories, the sculpture is emblematic of fractal arrangement simulating the ancient thought of shape, existential monotony and impermanence. In this, the artist visualizes it through biocultural forms that emerge with a Buddhist iconological rendering and essence of true nature. Identifying with the botanical forms, Viraag’s practice decodes the mythical layers to unveil the embedded eco-cultural identity.

‘यक्ष’ एक 3-डी डिजिटल प्रिंटेड रेज़िन की प्रतिमा है, जो एक देवता-जैसे आकृति के रूप में भग्नावशेषों का एक संग्रह है। एक फ्रैक्टल (भग्न वस्तु या पदार्थ) निरन्तर दोहराने वाला स्वरूप होता है, जो स्वयं को अन्तहीन गति में उत्पन्न करता रहता है। यह कोशकीय स्तर पर जीवित जीवन का आकार निर्मित करता है। जैसा कि देखा गया है, ब्रह्माण्ड भग्नावशेषों से भरपूर है।

बौद्ध दर्शन के अनुसार देवव्रत (प्रतीत्यसमुत्पाद) यानी एक उत्पत्ति जो अन्य उत्पत्तियों पर आश्रित है का सिद्धान्त अनन्त कारणों और परिणाम की व्याख्या करता है, जो भौतिक जीवन के अस्तित्व और निरन्तरता को निर्धारित करता है। पूर्व मौजूदा कारणों के बिना कुछ भी उत्पन्न नहीं हो सकता है और इसलिए घटनाओं की श्रृंखला अविराम होती है। इन सिद्धांतों से उभरकर आई मूर्तिकला भग्न व्यवस्था का प्रतीक है जो आकार, अस्तित्वगत एकरसता और अस्थिरता की प्राचीन वैचारिकी का प्रतीक है। इसमें, विराग जैव-सांस्कृतिक रूपों के माध्यम से इसकी कल्पना करते हैं जो एक बौद्ध प्रतीकात्मक प्रतिपादन और वास्तविक प्रकृति के सार के साथ उभर कर आता है। वानस्पतिक रूपों की पहचान करते हुए, विराग के कार्य कल्पित तहों के अंतर्निहित पर्यावरण-सांस्कृतिक पहचान का अनावरण करने के लिए उनकी व्याख्या करते हैं।
